Birch branches together with a woven textile collage form the frame of the woodcut on Japanese paper. On this is a man resting under water in embryo position, which rests in an ear shell, which is held by the roots of a lotus. He is observed by a curious mermaid and an astonished diver. Whether the dream-like situation is a farewell or a new beginning is up to the viewer. In any case, it was important to me to find a comforting and perhaps even strength-giving motif.
The artist about her work: "Since I can think, color-form and material compositions exert a strong fascination on me. The combination of often several materials and forms of expression such as painting and drawing with various printing, dyeing and textile techniques are characteristic of my work. The resulting relief effect gives the light from every angle differently, the appropriate material picks up the meaning of a theme on another level. Mainly I implement personal experiences, nature and travel impressions, as well as current events, and would like to tell the viewers a story- even more I am happy when they find their own story a bit in my work."
